When working with cement, you always want the solution to be stronger and more reliable. It turns out that this can be done quite simply and cheaply. I did not know? Then listen!
The assortment of modern construction markets is full of all kinds of additives intended to improve the quality of cement mortar. In addition, high-quality and reliable ready-made mixtures are sold, as well as various glues. And everything would be fine if these additives and mixtures did not cost as much as an airplane! Honestly, it is very expensive!
Fortunately, I came up with a brilliant idea. I remembered that even the Soviet builders added a “secret ingredient” to the cement, which made the mixture stronger.
About 25 years ago, buying ready-made glue or cement was not an easy task. But our people have always stood out for their ingenuity. So in the bright heads he came up with the idea of pouring PVA glue into the solution. This mixture has been used to perform almost any job, from plastering walls to pouring concrete floors.
Due to the presence of the adhesive in the composition, the solution acquires good elasticity and increased tenacity.
But I want to add a little fly in the ointment to this barrel of honey. Not every type of glue is suitable for adding to cement. To get the best effect, you should use PVA – MB glue . Contains polyvinyl acetate. This polymer can withstand high and low temperatures and also has a high degree of adhesion to any surface.
Having decided to try this method in practice, you will probably be faced with the question: how much glue should be added to the solution. Here you need to take into account the purposes for which the cement will be used.
1. If you need to lay tiles, then mix cement and sand, taking 5 times more of the latter. Also pour PVA. The calculation is as follows: the glue in the solution should be about 20% of the total mass. If the composition turns out to be too thick, you can dilute it with water.
2. If you are trying to increase the strength and ductility of concrete, then the amount of PVA glue in the mixture should be about 5 – 10 percent.
3. To make a concrete floor, you will need a 50 kg bag of cement, 2 of the same sand bags and 150 kg of crushed stone. For all this mass you need to take 10 kilograms of PVA. At the same time, 10 kilograms less water is needed for mixing the composition.
4. If you need to cover crumbling walls, then use the following proportions of cement, sand and glue: 1:3:1/2.
5. You can plaster the walls with a solution prepared according to the recipe described in the first paragraph. For every 10 kilograms of dry mix, add about 80 grams of PVA.
In 2000, my father and I decided to tile 2 walls in the bathroom. When mixing the solution, I added PVA in small amounts. Recently I decided to change this tile with a more modern and bigger one. When I was putting together an old board, from those put on a mixture with PVA, I sent a lot of curses and luminaries to the church, in an emergency, obviously on the heads of ” those idiots** who glued it so carefully)).
Therefore, from my own experience I was convinced of the quality of the solution when PVA glue was added to it.
